Re: What oil, rearend ezgo 2002
we always use 80w90 or a synthetic 75w90........regular motor oil is too thin.

Re: What oil, rearend ezgo 2002
It is somewhat unbelievable but the SAE have two different standards. One for motor oil and another for gear oil. In terms of viscosity 30 weight motor oil is about the same as 80 weight gear oil. However gear oil has different shear qualities to motor oil so you should use 80 - 90 weight gear oil. You don't need anything elaborate unless your cart was made by Bugatti so I would just troll off to Walmart and pick some up.

Re: What oil, rearend ezgo 2002
The manufacture says 30wt motor oil in all the manuals for gas and electric ezgos... I add a little STP so it will stick to the top gears even when it sits for weeks at a time. Either oil is better than none or not enough. But do not use 10-30 it is Too Light.

Re: What oil, rearend ezgo 2002
The manual says a 30 weight, but I've been told to use a non-detergent 30 on electrics, and 80-90 for gassers. So who's to say what is right or wrong. I think I'd rather have 80-90 seeing as tho I have a 23 Vanny with 6.1/1 gears, a rev kit and a HP cam

I just changed the oil in the rearend, and i think the last owner didnt know how much oil must go in, and he thought "the most the better" because i take out 3 1/2 ltrs of oil from there haha

Re: What oil, rearend ezgo 2002
wow on the oil.
I used royal purple 75-90 in all the gas rears. never had a problem. i used that cause my shop had like 100 cases of it and they didn't use it for the cars. I am a sister company to a bodyshop and used car lot. I personally no longer work there anymore. after 3.5 yrs by my self, i left. I now work for Mercedes Benz. I worked for BMW previously for 9 yrs. |
