Re: Anyone have Curtis 1515 controller pinout
How big are your batteries? AH capacity? You may be just as well off with the 650 and it weighs less and takes up less space.
The biggest reason to get the 1050 model is for high capacity batteries. The majority of golf cart batteries will charge just fine with the 650 version, but there are some that will require the higher output to charge properly. The 1050 is designed to work with either lockout type, pull-up or pull-down, where as the 650 only uses the pull-down lockout, which then requires supply voltage be re-applied to disengage. which is why they built the resistor in. The 650 is also able to use temperature compensated charge profiles, so the other terminal in the block is for a temp sensor. The 1050w model can deliver so much power that temp compensation isn’t really needed. But being able to plug in with more industrial platforms was more important, thus the ability to work with either type of lockout. Just have to add in the 10k resistor on the proper terminals if it’s necessary for the specific controller. Lester sells them separately if you want to go that route, or just get one from an electronics supply store and screw it in under the terminals in the block. |

Re: Anyone have Curtis 1515 controller pinout
Great information. The 20 Amp hour rate is 165, so probably overkill. The main reason I chose the 1050 was that the Lester site recommended it for Lithium batteries which is where I am going eventually with my cart. After talking to Bill at Lester I found out that the lithium profiles that the charger supports is very limited so we shall see.
So a bit confused do I need the 10K resistor on the Curtis 1515 out of my 2010 Precedent? Thanks Bill |

Re: Anyone have Curtis 1515 controller pinout
You do not need a 10kΩ resistor if you are mounting your 1050W summit on-board.
You would normally jump the Blue and the White wires at the OBC 6-pin connector as part of the OBC by-pass. With that charger you can connect the Blue and the White wires from the OBC harness side to the Summit Terminals 1 and 2 (Blue to #1 and White to #2). Those terminals are a N.C. relay contact so when the charger is not plugged to AC the terminals are connected to each other the the OBC is on by-pass. When You plug the charger to AC, the Summit Terminals 1 and 2 "Open" and break the connection between the Blue and White wires which causes the controller to go into lockout mode. |

I’m looking for that pin out on the post above but don’t see it.

Re: Anyone have Curtis 1515 controller pinout
It's worth noting that there are two different 1515 controllers. The 1515-5201 is grey in color and was available on the "PH" Precedent with the Excel drive system and the OBC. There is also a 1515-5206 which is white in color and can be found on all 2014 and newer Precedents with the ERIC charging system. If you'll let me know which one you need a schematic for I'll be happy to share.

As of 2023, they are shipping with 1515-5207 and a new throttle assembly.
