Re: What type of Yamaha golf cart do I have?
As far as 4-pass kits go, any g14, g16, g19 kit should fit. But NOT a G22 kit (different roof & supports).

Re: What type of Yamaha golf cart do I have?
I’m guessing too, that if it has reverse ( in the diff.) it was likely a Gas rear- end
I know very little about quite a lot |

Re: What type of Yamaha golf cart do I have?
Regarding it being an electric in a previous life, the only thing I'm going on is there's a big sticker with a 6-battery wiring diagram. You can see it in the 3rd picture on the original post on the left side.
Quote:
I found the nut on the steering box and a flat-slot at the end where I can loosen/tighten it that I've been experimenting with to see if I can get it just right. The lift+speed+sloppy steering though makes me think I should take it to a tire shop and get somebody to look at it and really make sure the steering is good. Right now, if I'm going fast and hit a bump or turn a little, it can jerk a decent bit. If I drove this thing after a few beers...might be recipe for trouble. |

Re: What type of Yamaha golf cart do I have?
Sounds like fun! Like cgtech said the body ( where that sticker is) is from an electric cart. There are folks here far more qualified to diagnose the steering issues than me - and probably better than most tire shops ( mine anyways!) Keep us in the loop as to progress

Re: What type of Yamaha golf cart do I have?
The prefix "JN3" automatically designates it as a gas cart, electric wouldnt be jn3.
Check the kingpin bushings too, and be careful with that adjuster nut, make adjustments in very small intervals, then test drive. The setting that might feel the best when steering wheel is centered, might "stick" when turned full left or right. |

Is there a chance I'll need to replace some type of linkage or something? What would I buy? |

Re: What type of Yamaha golf cart do I have?
Wear in the steering box is fairly common. (And expensive/sometimes impossible to totally fix). Like I said, check kingpin bushings, also check tierod joints. Keep in mind, it never was & never will be as tight as the rack & pinion systems yamaha offered after 2003 (and in the 1990-1991 G5). Betting next question will be "can I convert to newer style?", technically yes, but not cheap & welding/fabrication is always required.
