They could have at least fitted the board with female headers to facilitate field programming.
I dont know any of the terminology for PCB related components. Feel free to send link I'm all ears. I think the best plan at least for getting connection at first would be to solder a female connector onto the board that way you can rule out physical connection as a problem when first trying to connect to the chip.

The machined headers look like this:

Those pads are pretty large but a female machined header would be easier to solder from the top as well since you can get the soldering iron tip on the connector:

Ian has easily provided the best customer service I've seen in a long time. We should put something together for him. Maybe some site advertising? Could go both ways BGW on his site and Zeva on BGW I'm sure alot of our threads would help alot of others out with their projects be it golf cart related or not.

I told Ian in my last email how much I appreciated his customer service and I would be letting the folks in the golf carting community know on BGW. I told him a lot of us on the forum use his products and I'm sure he'll get more and more business from us just by word of mouth due to posting threads just like this.
