Default Cart slows down on cruising speed

OK I have just bought a 2005 Yamaha G22 gas golf cart. I had my buddy that works at the yamaha store adjust the governer. ( he zip tied it open...) when you take off it takes off like a bat outta heck but then it slows down likeyou take your foot off the gas. I am very very new to golf carts and have NO idea why or what is the cause of this. please let me know ideas of what to do or why this is doing this
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HELP

Read the sticky on bypassing the gov. But in doing so you have to be aware of lunching the motor from over reving. So be carefull!

Play it safe and buy the speed spring from cart parts plus. Cheap, solves the slow down problem, faster.

Some say bypassing the gov is ok, some say you can cause damage to you motor if you do.
