Default 95 txt backfiring

Hi, new to the forum. My 95 txt is backfiring and has no power taking off. I have to choke it to get it going. I've adjusted the valves, changed plugs, new fuel pump, new solinoid. 135 psi compression? It has a lift kit w/23.5 tires 12wheels. A cart shop said I need a rebuild?

Very possible, these engines have issues with the valves. All replacement valves are now harden steel and perform much better. This would explain the backfiring and poor performance. and believe it or not, 135psi is on the low side of where the engine compression should be. 125psi is the cut off number but it should be more around 150 - 160psi

Thanks, but do you think it needs a complete rebuild?

It's kinda hard to say being I've never seen the cart. Have you done a proper wet and dry compression test? This will tell you if it's a valve issue or if the cylinder, piston, rings are worn. It may just need valves replaced. It may be the carb is badly worn or a combination of these problems. The service manual will tell you how to do the compression test and the meaning of the results, this is where I would start to determine what's going on.
