I did put the old igniter back on. The new coil works like it's supose to. The cart runs better than ever. It's when you stop it some times diesels and once in a while the cart will actually move backwards. There is no dought in my mind the old coil was bad. As far as I know there is no adjustment on the coil.
By the way I am very new to the wild bunch, but enjoy the opertunity to see all this information that otherwise would not be available.
Thanks for the intrest and Help

This cart has stumped three different cart shops and a shop foreman in Indiana who talked to me on the phone and sent shop manual pages to me. If I ever find the answer I will let you all know.

I'm still on the throne thinking and throw'in this out to anyone......

Any chance there could be power back feeding the starter somehow, maybe through the regulator causing it to run a bit or even a shorted starter?
Again just sitting here thinking out loud...........

I'm open for any and all ideas. I heard of one other cart that acted simular the this. They traded it off. It seems to happen more as the engine warms up which make me think of carbon build up. I was told the butterfly must be closed befor the spark is shut off. This appears to be the case, but very hard to verify.

If you think it may be carbon build up, you could try this...

- Get a can of "Seafoam" engine treatment,

- Put the cart in Neutral, and in Maintenance Mode, don't forget to chock the wheels.

- With the engine cold, Remove the spark plug, and pour about 3 oz. of Seafoam in the spark plug hole,

- Also add the recommended amount to your gas tank

- Put the plug back in, but don't hook the wire back up,

- Crank the engine over for about 2 to 3 seconds, then stop.

- Let the cart, and Seafoam sit for about 10 to 15 minutes

- Reinstall the plug wire, and start the engine, It may have a hard time starting at first,
and when it does, it'll smoke pretty well!

- Run the engine for a minute or 2, (in maint. mode) at little less then half throttle,
until it starts to run smoothly, and the smoke goes away.

- take it out of Maintenance Mode, remove the chocks, and take it for a
good long warm-up ride and see if it still happens!

- If it's better, but still happens... Let the engine cool down, and repeat the process again

- If it isn't better... well... it's back to square one!

I, personally haven't had a chance to try this on a cart yet, BUT... I use Seafoam in all of my gas engines!
and, I won't use any other engine treatment!

Good Luck, I hope this works for you!

Another thing...

A 92 should be an OHV engine... Have the valves ever been adjusted?

This problen started after I replaced the igniter, and Coil. Also removed the ground wire on the RPM Limiter. I checked all parts with an ohm meter and compared readings with new parts. The new coil corrected the no spark problem, but now I have the engine diesels for a short time or runs backwards. When it does this it seems to suck all the gas out of the carb. Takes a while to restart. Trading it off may be the answer!!!
Sorry for the suggestion,
But when you provide information as above, and then later say it was doing it earlier and that is why you traded the coil and igniter out ?
Its hard to work on a problem without the correct information.
A. So the Cart has never run correct ?
B. Or the problem started after you started swapping out parts ?
Only 1 can be correct , so which is it ?

That sounds like a plan. I use Sea Foam all the time. It's a good product. I have just run some through the carb, but the method you suggest sounds sounds like a good idea.
I'll let you Know how it turns out. May be several days as we are expecting bad weather the nest couple of days.
Thanks

!. The original Problem ... Engine would stop, no spark, but would start again later.
2. Replaced RPM Limiter, and Igniter from another cart. Disclnnected RPM ground wire, replaced igniter, cart ran good in shop... Would not run when home.
3. Tested components with ohm meter...all checked OK.. Shop foreman suggested a bad coil... installed new coil... cart ran great..
4. New problem... Diesels and runs backwards when I stop... gets worse as engine heats up..installed new micro switches.. no help.. backes out butterfly screw.. no help..
5. Going to try soaking with Sea Foam for possible carbon build up as suggested by Lockman1 Thanks for the help, sorry I confused anyone

No not to my knowledge.. I thought about checking that also. It's nest on the ajenda if the Sea Foam doesn't woork.
I was told if the vaves were out of adjustment you should be able to hear them, the engind runs smooth when your moving.
Thanks
