Any reason NOT to go to 2 ga cable?

I'm not entirely sure where my cart is headed, but is there any downside?

I know 4 is probably plenty, but the difference in cost isn't that much.

Other than cost and a bit more difficult to work with there is no downside.

Well depending on your cart, I have some cable for sale in the parts section with lugs.

Go for the 2 awg. If you get the right cable (like scottys) it's not hard at all to work with. It will last longer because it won't heat up as much and heat is the killer with anything electronic. Plus it will future proof any possible upgrades down the road. 4 awg use to be plenty, but many engineers are stressing 2 awg for todays popular 500 amp controls.

The only real difficulty you'll have is squeezing that big cable through the OBC on your 2001!
I've heard it can be done, but the simplest thing to do is get one of scottyb's (Carts Unlimited) OBC stud kits for that!

Does the increased "flow" thru the cable cause the batteries to discharge quicker

No, only the load on the motor can do that. The increased "flow" will increase the overall efficiency of the drivetrain, meaning less energy will be wasted as heat.

Ok now I have a question my 99cc 48v Series car with upgraded motor and controler is wired with all 4aw Im not sure I want to compleatly Change all the wires but would it make and diffrence if I went to 2aw to connect all my battery's to each other?
