Question 1988 DS - Buss bar

Hello! Newbie here. Just bought a 1988 Club Car DS. I'm trying to learn as much as I can.

Please see attached image.

Is this copper bracket across the solenoids normal? Is it OEM? I'm just wondering if the seller did this to hide a non-functioning solenoid? He claimed the only modification he made was installing all new solenoids across the board.

The cart also fails to reach speeds above 10.5 mph and I'm trouble shooting all I can to make sure this is normal. I was thinking 12-14mph would be more likely when I purchased the cart. Thanks in advance for any wisdom!

That is your solenoid and resistor bank. It is factory installed.

You will not get a lot of speed out of that cart.

Yep. Not modified, that's the way it was made. Speed is normal.

Guess I can live with that. The cart has 18.5" tall tires on the front and 18" on the back. Would switching the larger tires to the back help with the top speed?

Not really as your limitation is not as much RPM related as it is with a Sepex cart. It would change the ratio (higher) but the biggest limitation is the toasters....

If you wanted to convert to an electronic system down the road, scottyb - Carts Unlimited does sell conversion kits.

Thanks for all the info! Am I correct in thinking that my 1988 cart uses a microswitch prior to the solenoids? Or does it have a vglide?

I'm physically away from the cart and haven't had a moment to really dig in.

Since your resistor bank has the solenoids installed, you should have a bank of micro-switches up stream from it.
