Default Yard Sport YS200

For anyone that has bought or is considering buying one of these...

Stop whatever you are doing with it, right now- and pull the hubs off the front and pack the bearings with grease. Our terminal purchased one of these as an experimental alternative to golf carts. It was brought back to the garage after a couple of months of use by one of our operators because it was "making a funny noise, and the wheel is hard to turn"
The problem turned out to be one of the most catastrophic wheel bearing failures I have ever been witness to. We ordered new bearings and all, but after getting it apart, the entire spindle is done. Grease that sucker up good, and do it soon. That is all. Kenny

ANy more issues? Mine seems to run pretty good. A freight terminal seems a bit extreme for a 'home use' unit like this?

About the time it got fixed and returned to the terminal, I was looking at my last few days of service there. Any of the heavy work got done with my 36v Medalist. The ST and the YS 200 were runabouts. Keep in mind, the terminal is over a mile and half from switch to switch, and you never know which rail car the next load will come from. While the gas carts were worthless for pulling equipment around, they could get operators to tractor trailers in a jiffy. In all seriousness, remove your front wheel bearings, toss the dust seals in File 13, and pack those suckers in heavy grease. You won't be sorry! That spindle was a MESS! It took me over 45 minutes with a hand file to get what was left of those bearings off.

WOW! My father-in-law has one. 3 months old and falling apart. Been in repair shop for over one month now. Hoping to return it.

My biggest gripe with it was that it was so hard to turn. My Ez-Go cuts and points with a single finger. The YS was like having a broken power steering belt. It was kinda neat to play with, but honestly I'd much rather have the cart. I will admit those two broom/ shovel holders on the rear of the cage were just the bomb! Somebody deserves a pat on the back for that idea!

They are near half the price of a new golf cart right? I don't know anyone personally that has one, but pretty cheap deal for what it is. Sounds typical, you need to keep your eye on things with a cheaper product intended for home use.

Agreed. A maintenance-free vehicle has yet to be built. I still have to admit being shocked to find "permanently sealed" bearings on the spindles. Not a good idea!

Depends, a lot of cars have sealed wheel bearings and some last a long time some don't.

A lot of cars also don't spend the bulk of their lives on unpaved trails and driving through deep standing water.
