Default New Trailer for the RZR

Almost finished with my new trailer for the RZR. It's 6' 8" X 13' inside with a 16" dovetail, 3500 lb Brake axle with 4" drop. I still need to do a tailgate but I'm trying to find Alum. so it won't be so heavy. Here's a few pic's, by the way this is all old used metal and had been outside for 12/14yrs. Tons of work but the right price (free). Hope you like it.

Although not free, they do sell a spring assist for trailer tailgates. I beleive Northern Tool has them. The local rental shop has them on their delivery trailer. I've seen the delevery gal raise the full ramp tailgate with no apparent issues.

just another option...

My buddy just put a set on for some body. He found them on sale for 150.00 they worked great.
I have rounded up everything I need to do it in Alum. Rectangle tubing its like 2 X 5 and some 2 X 2 and 1 X 1. I think it will turn out good and will be light enough to raise with no problem. Although not free he does sell it to me at scrap pricing.
Thanks for looking!!!!!!

That's a nice trailer! I applaud you for using wood for the floor and not expanded metal like so many folks want to do, wood is always better. Like the wheels too, off a Sonoma?

By the way, what year is the Chevy in the last pic? I know it's pre-79, so it's gotta be 73-78. Factory bumper guards too, is it a Silverado?

That's my Buddy's 1975 Chevy 4X4, it belonged to his Grandfather and when he got it bad shape was being nice. He completely rebuilt everything including building a dump bed all parts but the Cyl. and pump. It's a 3/4 ton 350 CI. 4 SP W/bulldog limited slip in front and locker in rear and I have hauled 5400 lbs of rock on it myself.

This thing started as a 25' rack or buggie that Alum. was stacked on. 52" wide and 48" tall. We cut the length then cut the side rail to the height we wanted it, then split it down the middle so we could widen it to the right width. I wore out 2 4" cup brushes and 8 or 10 cutoff wheels to clean everything up. The side rail's are 2X3X1/4 with 2X2X1/4 welded together, side rail's and cross members are also 1/4" wall. With out spare and tailgate it weighed 1400 lbs. From start to finish I have about 140 hours in it and my buddy probably 30 hours, but not a lot of money.
