Default 2 snowmobiles +1 golf cart = ???????

I have been searching for a thread where someone has built a tracked golf cart. I have been looking for parts for this build for a while, but I haven't found what I am looking for yet so I thought I might find some ideas on here, I found a couple of threads where they talked about it, but no builds.

The thoughts going through my head on this build is to use 2 snowmobile tracks, a snowmobile engine, hopefully find an old snowmobile that had a transmission with reverse, golf cart rear end with a centrifugal locker in between the tracks in the front of the cart, use the breaks on the rear end hooked to the steering wheel for turning, a third break on the driveshaft from the tranny to the rear end connected to the break pedal for a parking break, and of course a gas pedal.

Anybody want to bounce ideas back and forth on this?

Research raider snowmobiles for some information.
They went well on groomed trails.

I had never seen these, I'll have to look deeper into them to find out how they drive the two tracks. This is good to get some ideas from.

would it be better to use a hydrostatic transmission
maybe from a forklift or some sort of equipment
it seems like you would wear the brakes out pretty quick turning that way

I'm not real big on hydraulics. They are expensive and slow, if one thing brakes your sittin until you find replacement parts, although they would make the build easier. Using the brakes you should be able to tell when they start getting weak, and if one goes out you can still limp it home with one brake.

This build wouldn't be an everyday driver, I would mot likely use something like this a hand full of times a year, But then again there is always the chance I'll love it and drive it everywhere. In that case I'd be more worried about wearing the tracks out then the brakes.

Good point though.
