rotax ski doo stopped running need help!!

i was cruising in my cart when it just died had to push it home.. has a pull start on it.first pull after sitting a bit it will try and fire then gradually gets worse on each pull i did notice a wire from the cdi box to the coil came apart i fixed it but it still wont stay running

How about some info. What engine? Spark or no spark? Compression or no compression. From what you discribed sounds like ignition failed and possibly have it fixed now but is flooded from ignition failier. If you have the above two and plugs are wet. Install a new set of plugs hold it wide open and attempt to start.

Bringin my post back. I have a rotax type 464 lc engine. Its 462.8çç. This thing been sitting a year. Played with it a bit last night noticed i have fuel, spark and comp it fired up once for a few seconds but couldnt get anything else. Not sure if im getting a weak spark or what. One other issue i have is the electric start. Motor turns fast for a couple seconds then seems as though the battery is dead any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Again sounds like it is loaded up.. Pull spark plugs. shut fuel off[or crimp line if no shut off] and crank it over with plugs out. I'm thinking that when you had the ignition problem that it loaded up with fuel. When it's trying to run its getting fuel vapor from bottom end and running off it, but as the engine rpms try to increase its pulling "raw fuel" from the crank case. This could be your problem with the electric start also. If the battery is known to be good,[amps and voltage] see what the starter does with no plugs in the engine. If it spins over fine with no load [plugs out] possible that its hydro locking[see above] or brushes are spanked in the starter. but usually when this happens they won't spin at all.

It been sittin almost a year would the fuel still be in the crankcase after this much time? Ill try the plug thing in a couple days. How long should i crank it over to clear it out?

Ya could still be in there depending on how loaded it is. I just bought a 250r that had been sitting for 3 years. It was so loaded up I had to stand it on its tail to drain the fuel from the engine.

Hmm ok so any recommendations on how to clear mine out? Besides just crankin on it with no plugs

Other brands had drain plugs on the crank case, but not on a rotax.
