Default To slow

Hi I have an 03 ezgo with a 440 yamaha and it's slower then
With the stock motor iv put a rzr drivin clutch and a tighter belt
And I just can't seem to get any low or top end out of it.
It's like It's rely low geared but without the power at start
I'm not sure what to do.but Iv seen other carts that while
And get up to about 30-40 thanks.

Two things you need to make a sled motor run right is the original pipe, and if you mod it you need to keep it the same length/diameter. You can cut it on a slight angle and rotate then weld back up to make a bend. Then you need a clutch set up similar to sled in that it engages higher where it makes some power, but likely lower than the sled did because a track is harder to turn than tires. It will have to be jetted leaner for warm weather, even more for an aircleaner as most yamaha don't have any on sleds just a leaf catcher. If you have no air filter it will not last long you will need to bore it very soon. Never get a 2 stroke too lean it will burn a piston.

I'll guess you need to clutch to engage around 3K rpm give or take, and shift at 7-8K or so, should be able to look it up if you know what sled its from. You might be able to engage lower than sled as a cart will move easier, depending on how much power you want at takeoff. Raise it up and you should be able to pull the front or spin a lot. In the clutch a shorter spring will engage lower, you can shim short ones to engage a little higher. Weak spring will shift lower top rpm, but need to balance with the weights so depends on what you use. I had a 540 yami that shifted at 8300 it would stay right there long as the throttle was pegged. It engaged at 4000 on a hard launch, but had the high altitude kit so at less throttle it engaged lower it varied. It had a PSI pipe but that did not change rpm. You need a tack and have to tune the clutch to work at the rpm you want. Or find a stock one for it to start with might be easier. If power is still low do a compression test, a little dirt in there you need to bore them or they will get weak and really weak when hot.
