Looking for cart suggestion.
This might be a dumb question as carts and snowmobile engines vary with the manufacturer, but I have a 1983 Polaris sport with a 440.I was wondering if there might be a particular type of cart I should go for when doing the install. There's a shop in my area that has a boneyard in the back and he said most of his rolling chassis would run around $100-$200.
Another question, what about the extra power? Are you guys blowing rear ends left and right?Or does the extra snot just translate to wheel spin? How about brakes?Any mods needed, or just don't be an idiot?Same for handling. Thanks. |

Re: Looking for cart suggestion.
4 stroke Yami or EZGO would be your best bet ... With a newer EZGO you can use a Polaris ATV/RZR/Ranger secondary clutch which helps alot.
I run disk brakes on just the rear of mine.. but its a sand toy so fronts are not needed. Check out WheelsCA for the brakes I have a plowmans limited slip kit in mine and the rear is holding up.. If you weld it up I think you will have problems sooner than later... I also changed the Primary clutch spring to the softest one I could find so it's not so hard on the rear end on take off. Mine **** near wheelied from a dig with the spring set up for the sled that my motor came out of... |

Re: Looking for cart suggestion.
Thanks Koogar.I'm hoping to find a four stroke so I can have the reverse gear in the rear end but I'm not sure how much it's going to run.I imagine the $100-$200 quote is for something older but I'll see if I can finagle him.All I need is a rolling chassis.
Disc brakes will definitely be a Godsend. The stock brakes on my 88 EZ-GO are just about enough to stop it just with the Robin engine. As long as the rear will hold up I'm satisfied with the amount of traction I have on my 88.Still, I could imagine it being hard on the rear on takeoffs. The engine is still on the sled and I launched it in my driveway once and the front end comes up pretty good.So I'll be go for the soft clutch spring like you said. Thanks for the advice. |
