ez go with indy 340 engine NO SPARK
i recently finished putting a 87 indy sport 340 engine in my 86 ez go
the only problem is i cant get spark im getting power with the wires im supposed too and the wires that are supposed to be grounded are grounded ive troubleshooted the startor and everything looked and every wire diagram im clueless right now. here's were it gets weird I GET SPARK WHEN I CONTINUALLY TAP THE KILL SWITCH WIRE TO GROUND WHILE I PULL IT OVER so idk if the stator is back feeding some how or it has somthing to do with the killswitch or what it is doing but i can not figure it out. the cdi box is good i tested it on a running sled and it had plenty of spark the only thing i havnt done is change the stator im new to this forum and hopefully someone can help me and can understand my problem thanks |

Can you get a wiring diagram for the motor? Ususlly you can take a staic resistance test on the stator wires to see if its good. Ill see if I can come up with one.

have you tried hard wiring the kill switch to on to eliminate that?

When you say TAP , that sounds weird.. have you tried leaving the kill switch
wire on ground, running the motor, and then when you disconnect it, it kills the engine.. ? My jet ski is wired that way..so when you break circuit, it kills the engine, not the other way around. |

There should be a single black wire coming out of the stator. Disconnect that from the harness. With this unpluged it elimantes all saftey/ kill switches. I'm guessing that you will have spark.

Most sleds are like lawnmowers they kill when you ground the ignition wire. Its because most are self powered like a lawnmower engine and pull start. However the stator can have multiple wires it will have power for a headlight and the kill wire.
