Engine mounting opinions.
I've started working on my G1 sled motor conversion, I've made up a custom 1pc. motor mount/jack shaft setup (I'll put up some pics in a build thread when I get further along).
The motor is a 1980 Enticer 340 rated at 30 HP. Are rubber motor mounts a must or would I be safe to solid mount it? I found some dual post isolator blocks but I'd rather not use them unless most feel it a must.Thanks. |

Re: Engine mounting opinions.
I would mount it in rubber. Polaris ATV mounts work good. If the motor torques too much you can always mount a torque rod to limit the movement

Re: Engine mounting opinions.
The only problem with rubber-mounts and torquey motors is that they can raise havoc with belt-tension.

If you don't you're going to have bolts loosening and extra noise and vibration to deal with. |

Re: Engine mounting opinions.
Yea I went ahead and rubber mounted it.If you look closely you can see them under the motor mounts. The last 2 bolts are limiters to keep the torque from ripping my mounts.Unfortunately I didn't start this,I'm just finishing a lame attempt. This is where I'm at thus far.
I ran into clearance issues with the body so I'm gonna have to switch the axle to the top side of the swing arm so I can lift the body.Just got the exhaust mocked up today(harder than fitting the motor) |

Re: Engine mounting opinions.
Nice jackshaft setup you have there!
Clearance to the engine? Can you move the whole engine/shaft mount plate lower on the frame? You can lower the clutch long as you can still get the belt on it. |
