440 engine cooling

So ive posted plenty of posts about this build, and i still havent started. Im gathering parts and info over time. I am a senior in high school and dont have much time. So my question is, How should i go about keeping this engine cool? its a kawasaki 440 sled engine. Its fan cooled already, but thats for winter. Should i install an electric fan drawing air int the engine compartment?

If you don't sit and idle or if its push the peddle and start you should be good with out any extra fan.

ok, and i am not going in mud so i dont have to worry about the engine getting covered with mud and overheating. heres another question, could i put a normal automotive temp sensor on the engine somewhere, and get a reading? even though it is air cooled. I just think it would be cool because i have a whole bunch of brand new sunpro gauges and sending units.

A friend of mine wrapped a stewart warner sender in aluminum
foil and wedged it between fins. It was a little slow to react but it worked/

You shouldn't have any cooling trouble as long as u have fresh air ducted into the engine compartment directed at the fan intake and clutch. Sled engines in carts don't have to work as hard as they do in sleds due to weight and resistance. Also be sure and jet your carbs down to suit higher air temps. You will find alot of power and a bunch less heat.

I'm running a 1974 Polaris 295 twin fan cooled dual carb engine in my g2 yamaha and have never had a cooling issue yet. So far so good, lol.

Usually 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. My kids and inlaws drive the crap out of it all summer long every wknd lol. I will check out your build. Thanks for the link. Cheers.
