Try and look around Youtube for carts with sled engines... There are many more options than a sled engine also

Yea, thats my biggest concern is the noise. but i didnt have the money to spend on a high powered 4 stroke. i got the engine in a somewhat decent running sled for 150 bucks.

Noise would be an issue for me. I guess I'm going to try a 4 stroke build for now. I might start a build thread. From what I understand if I could mod my stock engine to get a few more hp and safety run at a higher rpm then I'll have no problem hitting 30. In theory lol

Do some looking around the Big Block section on the forum here and see what ideas you can come up with...

295 Robin. I've been looking on the big block section and they talk about a high rev kit.

A rev kit just basically stiffens up the valve springs so they don't float so soon.

For a few bucks more, you can get the whole sled, and know it's complete.
Also, e-start, CDI ignition.
That Cat was likely a free-air engine, no fan.
Yamaha has made the 540 since 79 or so, and they are mild, long-lived
