New guy with a snowmobile engine question
Hello.
This is my first post. I'm usually just reading a lot on here. Anyways I have a 1999 ez go text gas with a 9 horse Robin engine stock. I found a 440 snowmobile engine on Craigslist and this guy is wanting $ 125 for it. Anyway you guys could help me and look at the add and tell me if it's worth it? Thanks a lot guys. |

Re: New guy with a snowmobile engine question
You need to make sure it comes with the exhaust, and that it will run as is. without a wiring harness or anything. Snowmobile engines can be a pain

Re: New guy with a snowmobile engine question
I don't think it comes with an exhaust. But I priced some on ebay and it's reasonable.... would I be able to get a higher top speed if I can figure the wiring out? My mechanic is pretty good with that stuff.

You will get major top speed and major torque... They can be very touchy sometimes.

There are MANY options out there. It all depends on how much you're willing to spend...

Re: New guy with a snowmobile engine question
A snowmobile engine is easy to install until you get to the exhaust. Exhaust is a pain in the butt. The nice thing is that a sled engine already has the right type of clutch. But again, they are hard to get tuned right.

Does anyone just modify the stock engine? Like port and polish. Cam and bigger valves? I don't know if I'll be wasting my time with it
