Default 2010 Zone - Thinking of Purchasing

I am thinking of purchasing this 2010 Zone electric car/cart for $2,900 and it appears well-built, looks nice and has a lot of get up and go but after reading all the posts about the electrical issues, I am having second thoughts. We would be purchasing the cart from a dealer that we know personally but he stated that he doesn't know too much about them and won't be able to work on it. Are these carts really that bad?

If the dealer doesnt wanna work on it, run like heII! Factory support is not very thorough (not much manuals). If he's not experienced, you dont want it! Trust me, i have too much experience with minimal OEM help as a X- "star car" distributor (same cart as zone). This is the best resource for them, but there are so many varieties, its not gonna be fun to deal with without dealer support.

It wasn't just made in China, it was designed there too. Run away!

You cannot find parts or info on them. I have had one in my garage trying to find parts, for over a month.

No support, you are asking for trouble with this and any other chinese knock offs.

Too late. We purchased it a couple of weeks ago and my 15 year old daughter has been running it hard. So far, so good and I will give a review in December.

The private dealer who we bought it from, and who we know personally, found a Star dealer who is located relatively close by. Hope I don't ever need them but these Chinese made carts are all over the place now and the support will only get better.

This cart is fast and I am thinking seriously of registering it because we keep it at our yacht club which is located in a state park. The speed limit is only 30 mph so we could use it to go to events held at the park or to the convenience store.

Wrong. The support will only get worse because they aren't selling them much anymore.

After my last experience with one, about a week ago, we will no longer accept them in our shop.

We will turn all Zone or Star customers away.

Smokey, What kind of issues did you have that caused you to stop working on them? I ask because I wanted a lift put on mine and one of the local shops wouldn't work on it, which surprised me. Another local shop didn't have any issues with it. I've owned my cart since July 2010 and I have had zero problems with it. Other than it needing new batteries and I tried to save some money and didn't put in the same high capacity type that it came with.

I have put a lift from jakes on my fairplay along with new rear springs, 23" tires and a rear flip seat.I bought it because it was street legal and I got a really good deal on it. We go to state parks with it here in TX as well. Knock on wood, no problems yet. I like that it has the front disc brakes from the factory(Jakes made them) as well. I have found that a lot of the parts are interchangeable with other makes and models(ez-go, CC ect). If there is ever a controller issue I would go aftermarket Curtis since that is what is in it currently. Plum Quick will also build you a motor if you so choose.

Here is mine all finished;
