Star Cart accelerates too quickly. Need help adjusting
Right now, my cart accelerates a little too fast, so inevitably it jumps when I hit the pedal. Of course, I like the extra torque, but I'm pretty sure one day I'm going to take it through the garage wall. Or worse, spill my drink! Therefore, I need to find a way to smooth the acceleration, so If you guys can point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreciative.
Clearly I'm not a small motor mechanic, so if it requires more than basic mechanical intuition I'll probably have to yield to a pro. Thanks ! |

Re: Star cart accelerates too quickly. How do I adjust?
What is the year and model of your cart? Did it just start doing this or have you added something new and then it started??

Re: Star Cart accelerates too quickly. Need help adjusting
The cart is a 2010. I bought it used, and it was like this when I got it. Previous owner put a new motor in about 18 months ago, so I'm guessing it's a result of the way the speed control was set? It runs about 25mph top speed. Sometimes it will shake like it's out of alignment when going fast downhill. These are the only two issues I've had.

It's a Star, and the model is equivalent to their current sport model. Not sure if it was called something different in 2010. Thanks!

Re: Star Cart accelerates too quickly. Need help adjusting
It most likely has a Curtis 1266 or 1268 controller. You will need the Curtis 1313-3301 or 4401 to make adjustments or a dealer with one.

I took a look at the controller, and it's a Tc 200w DC. However, in uncertain about how you turn down the acceleration. I'm assuming it has to be opened, and adjustment is made on the inside?

I don't know about that controller but most are adjusted with a electronic hand held programmer.
