Default Fairplay just drives a few seconds

yesterday i´ve bought a fairplay electric golfcart. when i accelerate the cart starts driving and stops a few seconds later. when i stop accelarating and do it again it works again a few seconds. is there anywhere a feedback from the engine to the controller that it works? what can it be?
The second problem is, that the car just goes forward, no reverse. does anyone of you have an idea?
Thanks.
by the way, a helpful dealer i would´t find here in germany....

i could only get mine to go in reverse, the controller was bad. i replaced the controller but it smoked as soon as i hit the pedal a couple of times. i have not gotten anyone in here to reply on my post yet i am going to try to test the motor before i buy another 395.00 controller. it sound like your controller may also be bad but something elese may have caused the problem. i will let you know how mine turnes out. have a nice day

The most important thing in an electric vehicle is the batteries, so I would check and clean all of the connections and make sure the batteries are fully charged before attempting other tests!

Just because they are new doesn't mean they are charged! Verify with a hydrometer or volt meter that they are charged.

I had one that did this. It would move if you "touched" the throttle, but not if you "floored" it. If I "pedaled" the throttle, it would go to full speed, but be jerky as hell. Took about a minute of this to start to stink bad like an electrical fire.

The motor was bad. When I removed it from the cart, the shaft bearing was so sloppy that the armature actually clunked around. I swapped it with another (identical) motor from another (identical) cart, no problems since.
