84 Club Car electrical problem
To keep it simple for me I will ask one question at a time...Can I bypass the F/R limit switch?
Little about my cart I just bought...Its an 84 electric...was running until some type of electrical short...when I got it there were several burn wires and battery connections....What I have done so far is cleaned all batteries, solnoids, coils, and wire connections...put new battery cables...cleaned and tested all 5 of the speed connectors (not sure what they are called)..all test good.....My batteries are good and charge up fine...Now just have a little trouble find out where about 4 wires go to as they were burnt pretty bad... So am asking just one wire question at a time...Also if anyone has a detail diagram of the electrical it would be nice...There are a couple on here, however I cant see exactly where they go... Thanks and look forward to meeting new friends Bill |

Re: 84 Club Car electrical problem
So here is your cart......
And here is a closeup of the solenoids and resistors. Which wires are you asking about? I can't think of a reason to bypass the f&r on the way to getting the wiring repaired? |

Re: 84 Club Car electrical problem
I agree with you on not bypassing....When I got the cart a few days ago, there were no wires going to the F/R limit switch.....and the switch dont work...thats why I was asking....The close up of solenoids is great and helps a lot...Now that I can see the wires, I have a couple questions....(1) there are two wires on the far left solenoid, it looks like (5) and I think (1...on the close up diagram....I think I am correct in saying they go to the big post on the solenoid....One of those wires seems to go to the reverse buzzer (which I cant find on my cart)...should I assume it goes to the only wire I have left in the speed box (orange wire I think)....if so, can that be wired direct....OK..where does the other wire (5) go to...I see it goes to the F/R switch...is there anyway you can tell me which terminal.....OK>..I hope my last question...My ignition switch...one wire goes to the car charger assembly....what does the other wire hook to.....
Thanks for your quick response....Bill |

Re: 84 Club Car electrical problem
Correction on my last post...I dont have but one wire coming off the far left solenoid (big post)....the other wire is connected to the small post on the left solenoid which is the wire that connects all five solenoids...
Sorry and thanks |

Re: 84 Club Car electrical problem
Here si my rendition of the CC F&R 36v. Your switch should look like this...
The positive battery cable connects at the bottom of the switch. Originally 36v connected to the passenger side and 18v connected to the driver's side ... some guys put a solid copper or similar metal jumper accross the two posts and run 36v F and R. Good Luck |

Re: 84 Club Car electrical problem
OK Scottyb...you may have just taught me something....I was not aware of the 18/36 Volts...I thought it was just 36 Volts.....When I got this cart I think the batteries were wired wrong...the first four were in series positive to negative but the last two were positive to positive and neg to neg....with the two power cables coming from battery 1 and 6.....things were pretty burnt...one battery post was gone....Looking at other carts and the internet I wired them pos to neg all the way through....like in the diagram you sent...HOWEVER...the diagram shows the the two power cables on battery 1 and 4...Mine are on battery 1 and 6....which I asssume gives me 36 volts....
OK..on the diagram of the F/R switch you sent...mine in the same, however on the two bottom terminals, both go to battery 1 Positive post...(there is no jumper).should there be one.....Plus the bottem left terminal has two small wires...one going to the speed box and one to the charger plug....does that sound right to you.. I have a couple more questions but will wait to complet this one Thanks Thanks |

Re: 84 Club Car electrical problem
Without power to both bottom terminals you will have only F or R ?

Re: 84 Club Car electrical problem
I understand that...I have power to both terminals...they both go to the same positive battery terminal....You mentioned something about a jumper bar between the two terminals for 36 volts....Is mine good like it is with the main cables coming from battery 1 and 6.....rather than 1 and 4.....I assume I am running straight 36 volt and no 18v....Do I need the jumper or is good like it is...
