Curtis Controller 1286 fault on Tomberlin
I need some help folks. I am getting a five five fault on the Curtis 1286 controller on my Tomberlin cart. Not sure I understand what it means or what to look for.
Fault code five five; Main Contactor Open. The cart jerks but won't move very far. Not sure if it's the speed sensor, a solenoid or controller issue. Any help is greatly appreciated! |

Haven't changed the batteries yet. They are on my list!!!! I don't think it's the batteries, I am getting a good voltage across them.
I think it's the Main Contactor. Any thoughts? |

Good voltage across them standing still or under load? If your voltage is dropping enough under load the solenoid may be dropping out.

New batteries & now I have a smoking jerking motor. Think the motor is smoked due to the crap batteries I had. Will run test on motor tomorrow. I knew I should have replaced them long ago!!!!

Any resolution to your problem? I just experienced the same issue. Replaced batteries, took it for a test drive. Ran great, had it maxed out at 25 and started smelling some burning. Slowed down and went home. Tried going again and it would only crawl.
