Default 2010 Emerge 48SS Intermittent Speeds

My 2010 Emerge 48SS is acting funny. At any given time it will throw itself into limp mode or slow down to 2 -3 MPH. I either turn it off via key switch or run/tow switch and it takes off again without a problem. I have changed the speed controller however was told that the hall effect sensor could be causing this. The controller tells me its a speed controller fault but I find that hard to believe after replacing it twice. Anyone ever experience this or has a idea what I am dealing with?

Whats the fault code?

Ive never seen a controller do that. Chances are good its hall effect sensor or speed sensor issue or magnet.

Controller always faults to "speed sensor fault". However I have never changed the magnet. I may do that considering I have one.

What have to look into how to change the magnet though. Any experience with that?

I don't want to rule out the "hall effect sensor" but would figure the controller would code that if that was the issue.

If you could get your hands on a scanner, that would be best.

magnet change is easy.

With a scanner, you can see if the Hall effect sensor is the issue

What type of scanner?

And do you have any information on how to change the magnet?

Curtis controller scanner

Remove the speed sensor on the end of the motor. You will see the magnet. If its bad, you will know it, it will be in a bunch of pieces. Remove it and put a new one on....real simple
