Default Tomberlin E2 48SS Battery Charing Problem "!!"

Let my Tomblerlin sit around for a while with out charging it, now when I plug it up the charger gives me 2 red flashes on the spot with the 2 - !! Called the Tomberlin rep, and he said something about jump starting it. But now my dealer, who was more help, is just saying bad charger and is going to order me a new charger and come install it. But that could be 1-2 weeks. I was just wondering if anyone else has gone through this and might have any suggestions that I could possibly try.

I bought the Tomberlin in Dec, had 1/2 charge, set in the garage since then, and went to try and charge it and I won't take the charge.

It might be the charger but it might be the batteries. The charger probably isn't turning on because it isn't sensing any charge on the batteries at all. All you might need to do is bring the voltage up on each of the batteries. So you either need a 48 volt charger not like the trickle charger on it or something that will charge each batter seperatley like a 8 or 16 volt charger. If you can bring the batteries up enough in voltage than the charger should kick on eventually to bring them back up to a full charge. Hope this helps you some.

This is the charger that all the Tomberlins Ive seen since 2008 use.. http://www.delta-q.com/products/quiq.shtml . They optimized charge algorithms. (How the batteries are charged)

Delta-Q has designed algorithms for many types of batteries, and is constantly preparing algorithms for new battery types, sizes and chemistries. Delta-Q configures chargers with the most appropriate set of algorithms for each OEM’s applications. Manufacturing and field service personnel can easily toggle between algorithms and, with field reprogrammable chargers, download new algorithms into the charger "on the fly" using the QuiQTM Programmer.

If you ever change the brands of batteries, contact these people about changing the settings on how the batteries are charged. Here is a user guide.. http://www.delta-q.com/documents/710...uide_Rev_1.pdf

** It does sound like a bad charger. Delta Q seems to be the most reliable chargers on the market. This is the first I hear of an issue.

Well my wife ran into someone that said they had the same problem, and it was more than the charger, they ended up having to take it back to the dealer to do some work in OKC... so great Maybe I'll get to use it next month.

Your first problem started when you "bought the Tomberlin in Dec, had 1/2 charge, set in the garage since then".
There's probably nothing wrong other than you may have ruined the batteries or at the very least taken 1/2 their life away.
Batteries need to be left in a full charge mode, anything less will sulfate the battery and not allow it to take a charge.
Any cart left for more than a couple of weeks needs to be placed in the tow mode.
Chargers will not come on if the batteries are too low, they will need to be brought back to life by either by jumping the charger or using an automotive charger on 2 batteries at a time.
My guess is that you will probably be on the hook for a new set of batteries.
If you haven't read the owner's manual for your cart, now would be a good time while it's in the shop.

I would have charged it ASAP if the dealer hadn't stressed when he delivered it not to charge it until the batteries were pretty much dead to get your "full life out of the batteries" So how am i supposed to know there's a point of no return? unless it's in the manual of course, I'll have to double check. Well i'll never let them go uncharged again.

If these batteries were frozen during the winter, they're done and you will need new ones.
Maybe your dealer will help you out by getting you a new set of batteries.
If he told you not to recharge until the batteries were almost dead he was WRONG and maybe needs a little education himself. He's not the only one either, some dealers and techs have been advising this to customers for years.
Even the Tomberlin manual states that the cart is to be charged after each use and should never be left discharged.

UPDATE:
Well my service guy made it out today, all batteries are very low, so we have a charger on them. Each batter has 6-7 volts on it. The Tomberlin rep says if we at least have a total of 32 volts the carts charger should kick on and start charging.
Well i plug it up and it acts like its going to charge then after a few secs it goes back to the flashing red light. 6 times. The manual says "Charger Internal Fault" reset charger if problem persists return charger... well curse my bad luck the service guy is gone, with the new charger. Because he didn't install it since we figured out the batteries were just crazy low. So I'm still chargeing it with the 12 volt charger to help bring the amps up a little more just incase it just needs to be at a full 48 volts for the chrager to kick on. Service guy won't be back till monday.

I would check your individual battery voltages 46v is only a 10% charge.
A full charge on your pack should be 50.96v or better.
Do you have 6x8v batteries or 8x6v batteries in your cart?

UPDATE #2
I have 6x8v batteries. but the cart is now charging on its own! must have finally got the batteries voltage up high enough. And it moved! i stepped on the gas and the cart moved!

Each battery has about 8-9 Volts on it right now.
