Speeding up a Tomberlin E2 48SS
Been away from the site for awhile. Has anyone been able to speed up the E2 48SS?

Re: Speeding up a Tomberlin E2 48SS
Speeding up the E2 creates a couple of issues.
1. If the speed is increased over 25 mph then safety becomes a concern and the vehicle no longer meets Federal compliance regulations for LSV's. 2. The DC motor will be compromised as speeding it up will decrease the minimum field current and the motor will overheat and expire prematurely and changing those settings will also void any manufacturer warranties. |

Re: Speeding up a Tomberlin E2 48SS
In this forum everyone is aware of safety and federal compliance regulations. I think those issues are not a concern for 99+% of us.
I also think no one has really come up with a decent way of speeding the Tomberlin up. People seem to say they have some method and announce it once and then disappear into the void. If someone had some way of really doing this, I believe you could make some serious cash. |

Send the motor to PQ and let them have a stab at it. (Call and talk to Robby first) There are ways but not cheap or free ways.

I agree and speeding up the stock motor will only cause it to fail prematurely.

Yes, I've done Tomberlin motors and I have a name and number of a dealer that I upgrade motors for his carts. If you wish you can send me a pm and I can give you his name and number so that you can ask him what he thinks about speeding up Tomberlin carts. With the right settings you can get 30 mph with no regen braking, hope this helps..........

Not to throw a wet towel on the PQ motor but you can get 30mph out of a Tomberlin be reprogramming the controller. They already have an 8hp or 9hp motor.
