Question Zone motor brand or model number??

Been mentioned a couple of times, but has anyone seen or heard what the brand name and/or model number is of the motors that come in the Zone's? For those that haven't been following along, we know it's a SEPEX regen, 5.5hp, 48V system.....brand and model would be nice to know as well. Maybe some help from one of the guy's that have received a car when you have an opportunity to look since nothing specific (manual, warranty information, etc.) has been posted on the DE FAQ page......Thanks!

The SepEx motors are pretty reliable and you are unlikely to have a problem with the motor itself. The motors are probably similar to all the Chinese manufacturers use with different axle mounting dimensions.
The 4KW is the key, HP is rated in a variety of ways and can be misleading.
The problems you are likely to have with the motors will be the speed sensor on the back of the motor. Matching that up to others will be a chore that will give someone gray hair until it's found.

I doubt that DE knows what kind of motor it is, they are in the sales business not the parts business.
IMO it is unlikely that they will ever stock parts for these carts, it will be left up to the owners and repair shops to source the parts.
The group really needs to post in the stickies, the manuals that you get and any wiring diagrams as well.

When the problems start happening you can then start to develop a network of where to get parts and what fits what.

Thanks dougmcp........finding a manual or a wiring diagram and getting posted as a sticky is my goal. Thought a model number or something might help us to start searching.

Can you elaborate on what you meant by the comment about "problem with the speed sensor and matching that up to others"?? Is the speed sensor prone to burn-out on a SEPEX motor? If so how is a speed sensor rated (volts, amps, Kw, etc.)? All of us newbies would I'm sure appreciate the information.

Rear-end brand and/or motor housing type would be good to know as well I would think?

The speed sensor is a "hall effect" device on the back of the motor that controls the speed, regen braking and walk-away safety braking feature on sepex carts. They are different from motor to motor and manufacturer to manufacturer both in the way they attach and the wiring harness.
From my experience this has been the biggest issues encountered on sepex motors.
Take a look at your stickies and read about the Curtis controller to give you a better idea as to what it does and how it controls speed.

We may be getting way too involved at this stage and should probably wait until some information can be documented regarding the actual composition of these carts.
We don't even know at this stage whether all the carts are made in the same plant and utilize the same parts.
