2007 club car with 2013 batteries?
 

So I have a 2007 CC with new 2013 napa batteries. Over the winter we lost power a couple times and I forgot to unplug and plug back up my power driver 3 charger to the cart. So I think my batteries died on me. I added a little distilled water to cover plates and then charged each batter separately up to over 32 amps. Then plugged the charger back up and it reads 15 amps and it will not cut off. Why is the charger not cutting off? Is something wrong with the batteries or the charger? Shouldn't the amps on the charger go down as the batteries charge up? I'm confused. Surely the batteries are not shot, there only 2 years old. Any help would be great!

Start with the basics....

What is your overall pack voltage and what is the voltage on each battery?

How long did you leave the charger plugged in that you decided that it was not cutting off? Charging batteries can take upward of 16 hours or more...

if you don't charge 2015 batteries they will go bad ... but i agree with teecro start with the basics ...

Measure the Voltage on each battery. You probably have some that are shot.

Plates left exposed to the air will immediately sulfate. These plates are no longer active in the exchange of electrons.
The percentage of plates left exposed is equal to the capacity percentage lost.
The longer a battery sits and is not re-charged the more damaging sulfation build up there will be on the plates.
The charger is looking for approx. 63v for the cut off voltage. Check the pack under charge to see if it is still able to reach the charger cut off voltage... Even if it does, I fear your capacity will be diminished.
This may prove an expensive oversight

How do I check the voltage of the whole battery pack?

I've left the charger plugged up for about 5 hours max. The charger gets hot and I can lift up the seat and hear the batteries boiling but they never get hot. Should I just plug it up and see what happens after say 16 hours. And hope it cuts off.? Thanks for the advice!

we need voltage readings ... bubbling is normal ..always allow charger to run full charging cycle

Got it. Need to go get a voltage reader at the auto store as I do not have one? I will check and reply.

5 hours is not enough time. On my 04 CC it usually takes at least 10 hours.

Bubbling is normal
