Jakes double a arm lift for 98 club car.

I just installed the Jakes 6" double a arm lift on my club car and I really like the lift and installation went pretty good. I just have two questions. The first one I have pictures to post.

The car is sitting nice and level but the front shocks are pretty much bottomed out already so it doesn't give any suspension travel. I seen on the pics on Jakes site that it looks like I have the right spacers for between the bottom a arm and the leaf spring. Am I not doing something right or is this normal? If it is normal what shocks should I get for the front?

The other question I have is on the rear shock mount plates. There is a stud on each one that is welded to the plates at about a 45 degree angle and it had two washers, a sleeve and a locknut on each one. It doesn't seem like anything on my cart would go to these?

Thanks for the bump. I am really curious on this. Apparently the 97 and older double a arm lifts use longer spacers between the bushings at the bottom a arm and the spring. I know this would gain me some travel by making it lifted a little higher.

I have new heavy duty springs coming for the back end. The car leans a little to the left and I think it is because the left rear spring is worn out. I also have a rear flip seat kit coming and wanted the heavy duty springs to help support the additional weight.

The cart sits nice and level right now but if the heavy duty leaf springs make it sit up a little higher in the back then I will make up longer spacers and get longer bolts to lift the front end a little higher which should give me sufficient travel. Just seems weird that it wouldn't have any travel after a fresh install.

I have the Allsports double a-arm kit and have had none of the issues you've mentioned. I don't know of any difference in the front suspension of any DS. As far as I know, they never changed anything from 1984-2007.

And by looking at your pic, the space from the bottom a-arm to the leaf spring does look much narrower than any cart I've seen. If that space was wider, it would pull the top a-arm down, and free up your shocks. I would call Jake's tomorrow.

Here's a pic of my front suspension:

Almost looks to me from the 2 front pictures here that they sent you the wrong front lift.

Here is the lift kit I bought: http://www.jakesliftkits.com/liftkit...dbl-a-arm/7461

It says it is for 1982 to 2004.5 gas / electric. The other one which I think actually would have worked better is this one: http://www.jakesliftkits.com/liftkit...-lift-kit/7465

But that one says 82 to 96. So I went with the first one when I ordered it. I have an email in to Jake's about it.

Hmmmmmm. I dunno. I went with an allsports lift like springbok and havnt installed it yet due to weather. I've heard jakes has good customer service so I'm sure youll get everything figured out.

Look at this thread, Tom Burke posted pics of his Jake's 6" double a-arm lift in the thread below and it looks more like my Allsports lift than the one in your picture.

One weird thing about his is that the rear wheel isn't centered in the wheelwell. On my lift, the wheel is perfectly centered. I wonder what Jake's did differently to make it do that.

George what are these (circled in red)? I don't have these on my shocks. If they're spacers they could be eating up some of your shock travel...

I am not sure what they are other than some sort of bump stops to keep the shock from bottoming out. I was thinking about removing them but am holding off for now. As far as I know they are the original shocks. Removing them would gain about 2" to 3" of travel.
