Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
Welcome Jack from a fellow Jack fan. Although, I prefer mine with ginger ale.
G1's are pretty much bullet proof carts, enjoy:thumbup: |
Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
Welcome. G1's are an inexpensive way to get into carts and make great platforms for modification. Hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of yours.

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
The front support looks like it might be from a G2 and the top could be also.

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
HIGH Here we go new gas owner g1 1982 where to start .cart run ok smoke a little need body work and paint .but first need a new ingnition switch and key and rebuild carb. HELP what to start first
|
Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
I would get her running good before doing a lot of work on body. Ignition and keys are cheap, getting motor rebuilt will cost around $850.00 to $950.00if you need to go that route. Do you still have oil tank and pump on cart or do you have yo mix oil with gas ? Some parts are hard to get and discontinued but search and you may find a good deal.
|
Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
Have to mix oil .were would I look for ignition . going to check compression this week end and go through motor.when I get photo will post . it run ok going to drain gas a start over.
|
Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
For ignition switch just put in a search online to find a good company or look at the sponsor's on this site.

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
Outside trying to clean out garage to make room for cart work. My son and I always search sites for carts for sale and there are always some awesome ones in California. There have been some really cool old ones but that's to far for this jersey guy to travel. I just bought a tune up kit for my g1 which was air filter, pre filter, gas filter and spark plug for $20.00 with free shipping so like I said search and have fun. Have a great weekend !

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
I have a chance to get a old 3 wheel ezgo for $250, and one for 150.00 but with the 5 carts I have I know the wife is going to have a fit. I have plenty to work on but I have golf cart fever. What to do ????
|
Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
I it were me I would focus my funds on getting one nice cart finished. Then look for others that interest you. If they all interest you, your in a world of hurt.
|
Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
I know what you mean. I have a 2002 cc ds and a yamaha g1 that is done. I built a new battery rack for my 1972 cushman golfster and need to do some body work. I just wish I had a bigger garage. I have 2 young ones and they love riding on the carts, it can become addictive, I am going to pass on the other 2.

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
Nice ! What size lift do you have on it and did you purchase it or make it. I need a lift on mine.
|
Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
Those are great little engines for the price. Just dont over rev it or you will see what the inside of the engine looks like through a big hole.

Thanks and yes the cart has a jakes 7inch lift kit plus i added about 10 more inches on top of that and went about 4 inches wider on each side. it is much more stable but i might be adding 3 inch wheel spacers to get a little wider stance. I also have a g2 i have built after learning my lessons from this one. and yes the harbor freight motors are great but can only take so much i have personally seized 2 of them thank god for the two year warranty just swapped out a new one and back on the road. the g2 i made custom a-arms and it is about 10inches wider per side and also moved the whole front end up 8 inches and the rear swing arm extended 8 inches longer.

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
Alright... I'm building a roll bar for my g1 and I'll be starting a thread. However in the time being, I could have sworn I saw a pic once upon a time on this site where someone had added 4 inches or so to the floor board adding like a side step to passenger and drivers side of the cart. If someone knows where I can find that pic, please post a link or the pic itself as I'm attempting to do the same thing but I can't for the life of me find that pic.
Thanks for the help. |
Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
Howdy, I've been here a month or 3. I have a 84 G1 that I bought a little over a year ago from a older man at our church. Wife, grandkids and I love it. I have had a few issues with it that the great people on this site have helped my with( and I'm sure there will be more). I bought it to take to the tractor shows so I don't have to walk so much, but it is real handy around our small farm. Chris

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
It won't let me post a picture here because I'm still new but I put one in my profile's album if you can view that?
No ignition key but was able to jimmy it with an old gas cap key to forward position. Found the pickup tube in the tank fell off the fitting in the top of the tank. Replaced with more appropriate tube that didn't melt in gas! Had to prime the fuel pump with a MityVac hand pump and clean the float bowl. Then it fired up. A test drive will have to wait until I can fix the switch to work forward and reverse. I'm happy I made good progress my first day working on it. $200 well spent for this machine. |

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
do i need to pull motor out .were is the best place to buy parts and how hard is it to install
|
ignition key
Do the G1s all have the same key cut (like riding mowers) or is each individual to it's switch?
I have no key and have these options: A: Take apart the switch in an attempt to remove lock tumbler portion, leaving only a switch. B: Buy a new key (if universal and cheap) C: New switch with new key. Still not sure this is a G1 so finding the correct part number is problematic. Ernie |
Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
Ok I've been running down the wrong path, turns out it's a CPC not a Yammy!

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here
Well I just received my brand new old stock front bumper for my G1 yesterday. Bumper is in original packaging and is mint condition. It seems harder every day to find parts like this but searching is fun and rewarding to me. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
