Thanks Doom, Im not to old to learn. Unfortunately because of the condition of the linkage and the expense of replacing said linkage I think I'm removing it.

Hey guys!! I am new to this site and have a G1. I seen some where on this site a guy had pictures of him swaping the stock front to a G16 front body cover on his cart. Does anyone know a link or thread to see the pictures again. I would like to give my G1 a updated look also. Thanks Doug

Here is a G16 mod
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...a-g1-body.html

While not the most attractive, I like the G1 body style...just wish it was easier to put a glove box or something in it.

Hey ewbldavis

Welcome Dragman. Though the G1 cowl isn't the prettiest thing it does have possibilities. Check out some of the G1 builds in the Lifted cart section. You can do just about anything you want as long as you have the money, time and skill.

well weather broke for a few days, it's a balmy 40. Got the new carb installed and replaced the spark plug cap and new plug. It's up and running pretty good, didn't take as long I as expected to prime the new fuel system and it took right off.

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here

Hey guys! Cool idea if interested - I put a fuel gauge in our G1. Cheap mod, too - about $45 (with shipping). Order Sunpro gauge and sending unit from Summit Racing - it works great in stock G1 tank.

Other mod was I drilled 2" holes in dash and relocated key - I will be installing voltage and fuel gauge there. I will post pics when assembled. Should work great!

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here

ewbl, anxious to see your mod. That key is in the worst position! I can't tell you how many brewskis I spilled last summer reaching for that thing :lhmo:

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here

Like the idea of a fuel gauge. Will have to check that out. Definitely post pics when possible.

U can always move it..I put my wife's between the seats..just an option..

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here

Todd, moving the key is definately on my list. Are those stock seats on the green cart, if not where did you get them?

OK...Here is a pic. Note relocated key. I put a fuel and voltage gauge in. Switch is for "accessory" power (lights, gauges, etc.). Small hole to left of steering hole is new choke location. I have a pull light switch that will be mounted to cowl (not dash).

The finish is Duplicolor spray-on bedliner. Takes a while to dry (days) but as you can see it is an awsome finish. I sprayed my seat back supports with it.

A word of caution - place hole saw strategically or it will wander when drilling by key hole. Mine did a bit...but got it to work.

Hay field nice seats what did you do to the seat back side, Did you paint the plywood or cover them with something?

I just painted them black on the backside. I don't think they were painted in the pictures though.

Checked there already, only thing available for my year is to order the print version. Not currently having any issues but would really like to have one on hand, especially for the electrical stuff. Everything appears to be original so I'm sure it's just a matter of time before something dies, lol! :occasion5:

Yah, manuals are invaluable items, especially the service and parts manuals. I would think that someone has your manuals on PDF or disc.

That's the one I saw covers 83-89 and back to my original question will this help at all with an 80? Really just concerned with the electrical stuff, the mechanical is fairly simple. Having schematics is huge if you have to trouble shoot electrical.

Re: Yamaha G1 owners club-post here

Question on CD manuals I have a older G1 and the manual covers major area such as tare down process, electric problems, common problems you will likely run in to. A part list for your model well tell you the rest of the story.
Have fun!
