Help with shuttering G22
 

48V, Plumquick motor, 500A Alltrax controller. Newer 4GA cables I put in 2 months ago.

The GF was spraying her pasture the other day and she said her cart stopped and would not go. Then she let it set for a few minutes and it started to go but has a really bad shutter both forward and reverse. She had been doing a lot of creeping. She had the sprayer connected to a separate 12v battery, not the cart batteries. Things I did last night.

1. Fully charged batteries and topped off their water.
2. Checked diode across solenoid.
3. Checked all connections.
4. I get the green LED on the Alltrax when I turn the key on.
5. Jacked up the cart and turned rear tires by hand. No noise or binding.
6. While still jacked up I ran the cart forward and it almost sounds like gear noise coming from the motor/tranny area as it shutters.
7. Checked each battery with a digital volt meter for any major drop when starting the cart. Max drop I saw was about.25 volts.

I forgot to look at the LED on the Alltrax controller when I had it jacked up to see if it complained under load.

Tonight I am going to drop the motor just to make there really is no gear problem where the motor messes with the tranny gear.

Anything else I can check or should look at? I would appreciate and suggestions. Thanks

I guess everyone is stumped like me. lol I had a chance to take a closer look last night. Things I did.

1. Checked all batteries with hydrometer and load tester. All batteries are fine.
2. Pulled rear end cover and inspected gears. All is ok there.
3. Pulled motor and did the resistance checks. All was ok but notice what seemed to be what I call a hot smell. Like something has been really hot but not burned.
4. Put motor back in, jack up rear wheels and connected motor directly to 24v. Motor seems to run just fine but there really is not much a load on it when you have the rear wheels off the ground.
5. Connected all back as normal and watched the LED on the Alltrax while running. LED remained green with no flashing of any code.

I am leaning towards a broken brush in the motor possibly? My logic is, with no real load the brush doesn't draw as much current and the arcing would be far less at the break than under a load. I guess I could take the motor apart and check the brushes but PlumQuick just did this motor a couple months ago would not want to void any warranty but it would be easier to change a brush rather pay all that shipping cost again. Thoughts?

try your original motor if you still have it. also check full throttle voltage at the A1 & A2 terminals on the motor. should be close to pack voltage. if very low, suspect controller.

This is the original motor. I sent it to PQ for the Bandit upgrade. I checked the motor voltage and it is close to pack voltage. I decided to send the motor back as a result. Thanks!
