Is this Solenoid Wired Correctly (87 Resistor Cart)

1 Attachment(s)
Hello,

I have acquired a free 87 Marathon, and I need some help with electrical connections.

It has new/good batteries and the power switch has proper continuity. The P.O. mentioned that he had trouble with the Solenoid.

As it is, the cart doesnt work, but if I connect both of the Red wires on the big posts of the solenoid it will start spinning (with no pedal pressure).

I've looked at all the wiring diagrams but I cannot determine if the wiring on this cart is right or not...The attachment shows how it looks now. I would love to see a pic of one wired correctly!

Thanks.

Well, I think I've tracked my problem down to the switch at the top of the pedal wiper that dis/engages the power. When I take that read lead and put it on the post along with the black one, the wheels turn.

The speed wiper should be coming back to rest on an EMPTY lug button when the pedal is up. This way the cart can not go unless the pedal is depressed. So, the wiper lugs may be cabled incorrectly IF the bottom contact is not empty

Yep, that was it. I will go ahead and clean all of the connections to boot.

Thanks scotty. There's a lug down where the pedal stops but it is not connected to anything, so I think that's what you mean. I've been running it around doing chores already. Its definitely fast enough for 3 wheels! I can tell I'm going to want to modify this and look for a 4-wheel one to play with.
