D&D 502 with Alltrax XCT500

All,

I have a new D&D motor coming today it is the 170-502-0001. I contacted alltrax and sent them my cart specs and got the recommended field map for my application where I like to be around 25mph. Alltrax has said I will not be happy with the D&D motor. Is that the case? Should I not install this motor and contact D&D? I was used to 25 to 30mph easy before my other motor died. I want to make sure I at least get up to 27mph at the maximum for the flat streets I live on. I am now worried that the motor will be an issue.

D&D are the ones who recommended this motor to me.

I can't tell you how fast you will go but both of my G29's have D&D motors and I am happy with them. My cart with standard gearing won't go over 25 without overspeeding the motor. My cart with high speed gears has a high torque version of the D&D. I have it set to go about 24 max. You can fool with different field maps to get a little more speed but unless you have oversized tires you won't get 25 with standard gearing.

I have 23" tires.

From alltrax, after I gave them the specs including my lithium setup:

If you have a club car that motor should get you into the low 20’s, if you have a Yamaha or EZGO you’re not going to be a fan of the 502 motor.

I attached the best map we have for the 502 motor.

If you haven’t already I would change your regen battery amps down 30A and set your undervoltage for 43v since you’re running lithiums. 230AH pack should have a high enough peak discharge you don’t have to limit any current settings in the controller.

Recommended map FieldCurve_RHMOT-A2-V7"

You must have a lift if you can fit 23 inch tires on a G29. I assume you have a G29. I have the largest tires that would fit on my unlifted cart and I can get 25mph with stock gears (12.5:1) I am running Nissan Leaf cells with max voltage of 58V. I think my tires are about 21.5 inches. I have ES-66C-33 D&D motor on that cart. On my second cart with 9:1 gears, I have ES-24-14 High Torque motor. That cart also has a Leaf pack - been running that cart for over 6 years with that setup. Top speed is similar but I think that cart could be set up to run faster. I don't really want over about 20mph on a cart with only rear brakes.

I have a g22e with 6 inch lift. I had an fsip speed motor. My lithium pack is 58.4V at 100% maximum. usually 58V as well.

I may install the d&d and test it.

Any other thoughts Volt? Should I try it or just send it back? I believe the D&D motor is not a long stack motor like the admiral D4 or the FSIP speed motor.

No other thoughts. I have related my experience with two G29's.

According to D&D, who have terrible customer service... The motor is rated at 3250 rpm, which would only be 18.5 MPH with a 12:1 stock gear ratio and 23" tires. I can't see how 3250 is the max RPM. I don't want to install and then get screwed on a return.

Plowmans has a D&D engineered motor that comes in his Riot Kit. I've got this motor and a 300a Alltrax in a G22 with 22" tires. Cruise at 25mph...
