new to this site,found what i wanted fast.good pics and davice.i now want to install a K&N filter,change jets if i know what size ineed.i have a 90 g2a Yamaha,i am 77 years old but enjoy this kind of stuff.

How many R's is to much? What RPMs should you be ble to run all day long with no damage and what do you figure the "wide open for a split second" would be? G16 with factory motor and clutch.

I had a 99 G16, governor completely bypassed, ran mobil 1 synthetic 10w30, and ran the total crap out of it all the time. Never gave me a minutes trouble. But that's me and continually kept the maintenance up on it (regular oil changes). We usually tell people not to over rev the engines for the engines life sake. These are air cooled engines and running them wide open reved as high as they will go, esp in heat, COULD cause engine breakdown (its like any engine, just be mindful and don't abuse it/take care of your cart and it will last for a very very long time).

Right on top of the rearend. In this pic it is tightened all the way down.

how much faster can we expect the buggy to go by only adjusting the governor nut?
I just want to speed it up, but because it's used by many people, still want the safety from over-revving

It would depend on where it is set now. Give it a few turns and test it out.
You should be pleased with the gain. :thumbup:

Yous is a G1 not a G2 like there talking about hear. The govenor arm sits on the shaft coming out of the differential, from the passanger side you will see this better (just forward if the air cleaner box assy. Like I said before...Take the screw and nut out and throw a way the nut, then turn the screw all the way back in. Go Fast!
