Type of sealer
Can anyone recommend a brand or type of sealer for crankcase? Being new to this, I am unsure and standing in front of sealer section at the store only adds to my uncertainty. :?

Re: Type of sealer
Keep in mind, and I’ve got no idea what motor you’re working on, but in many engines, the case gasket thickness is accounted for in clearancing/shimming of the crankshaft. Few thousandths of an inch the gasket takes up can make the crankshaft bind up, wear bearings, or other issues.
I’d recommend just buying a $10 gasket For other sealing purposes, I always use either permatex ultra black, or if I have the time to stop at a Toyota dealership to pick up a tube, Toyota makes a product called FIPG (most pronounce it fippage, stands for “form in place gasket”). It's an 88 2pg 2 stroke. There is no gasket.
