1984 EZGO 2 Stroke Will not fire
Hello everyone. I have a small (hopefully) problem that i cannot put my thumb on. I have a 1984 EZGO cart with a 2stroke 244 cc robin engine with oil injection. I cannot get it to fire. I have done a full motor rebuild with new bearings, crank seals, crank, connecting rod, wrist pin, piston, rings, head, gaskets, air cleaner, spark plug, reed valve and gaskets. I had this cart running for about a week and during a drive, the engine just shut down. ive gone though and replaced the piston and rings, honed the cylinder, replaced the plug, air cleaner, cleaned the carb. i have spark, i have 120ish on the compression, its getting fuel, all electricals are fine. I can get it to turn over but i cannot get it to fire. Im stuck. Ive been working on carts now for a few years but this one has me stumped. any ideas? Thanks.

Have you checked for leaks at the crank seals even though there new? I know the slightest air leak on one of my r/c nitros and it will not even try to start.

I have. There are no leaks that i can hear or see. All the seals and gaskets are new. I have all the bolts torqued to EZGO's specs. And the gas is new. Being a 2 stroke, there isn't much that can go wrong to cause it not to fire. I've been working on ezgos for several years and this is the first time that i have ever had this problem. Ive even removed the muffler thinking that it was blocked, which happens all the time with the 2 strokers.

Did you try blowing smoke into the bottom end? You would never see if the flywheel side is leaking without a little cigar smoke

i take it's got spark,

Well I thought that I would update this thread. It was the fan side crankshaft seal. It popped right out of place. Runs great, no problems!!
