5amp or 10amp

I'm going to install a light bar (Halogen) on the roof and know that I need a 48v to 12v voltage reducer.

I have no other lights on the cart and really don't plan on any.

So, does it matter if it's 5amps or 10amps?

Thanks

Yes. What's the amp draw of the light bar? Halogens are thirsty.

Just contacted the company for the info as I haven't received the light bar yet and it didn't say in the description.

Thanks

Why did you get halogen over LED?

I wasn't able to locate the light bar that I wanted with LED's and believe me, I looked.

This is the one I bought and doesn't mention Amps.
Being delivered tomorrow.

Madjax did an install on youtube, but to a gas cart.

All in all it's not going to be used a lot. So hopefully it's ok. Just don't want to get a voltage reducer that's to low with amperage.

Well the simple answer is go with 5 and if it blows then 7.5. That blows 10 amp. Guessing your switch and wiring can handle 10 amp.

Crazy question.

Is it possible to over amperage?

If not, why not go with a 20amp just to play it safe?

latest one I bought is 35amps and it was only a few dollars more.
Never need to worry about overloading it.
Also add a new fuse panel and you can tap many accessories off it later.

My GUESS is that those bulbs are H1s or H3s, which should be around 4.5-5 amps each. If I'm correct, a 20a would do you fine, but leave you zero room for expansion. This is the one I just installed on a cart I built to sell:

I also used a fused distribution block. The only accessories on the cart are foglights and a power bank (USB and 12v plug), but the new owner has plenty of room for anything he may want to plug in.

I'll try again tomorrow to reach out to the seller to confirm amps.

But it sounds like the 25A would be fine.

Thanks for everyone's help.
