G16 Carb problems
Greetings,
I bought a used G16 gas cart which was burning oil and would only run with the choke on. I rebuilt the the engine and the carb. The engine isn't burning oil anymore, but i still have to run it with the choke on. It doesn't seem to be much of an adjustment screw. Has anyone else encountered this carb problem or have a solution?? Thanks. |
Re: G16 Carb problems
It doesn't have an adjustment for the high speed circuit. It is a fixed jet.
There are several causes to having to use the choke. 1) High speed jet is clogged 2) Air leak between the carb and engine block 3) leaking air filter box causing lean condition, (Yamaha very picky about this) 4) Carb float set too low in bowl. |

Thanks Guys, I checked it over again and I see that there's a large crack on the elbow between the airfilter & the carb. I'm ordering a replacement asap.

Re: G16 Carb problems
Getting the choke to stay out by itself is not the fix.
Make sure your airbox is sealed 100%. try spraying some WD-40 around the carb mounting block, if RPMs change you have an air leak. Even new carbs can come with trash in them, or have been dropped in the transport. Double check the entire carb inside and out. Running rich or over choking will wash the rings right out of an engine if left that way. |
