terminology question
what is meant by a "thick can" motor or a "thin can"?

Re: terminology question
Never heard those terms before! Now I'm interested too!

Re: terminology question
Most likely a reference to the motor's housing being made from cast metal (thick) or from rolled sheet (thin).

But I don't who who would want to make or accept a thin can. It would be really cheap. |
Re: terminology question
I dunno. My 16 year old 2hp GE took a crapload of abuse from me and was still running like a champ when I replaced it with the 8hp D&D limo can. No complaints from me about that thin can!

Re: terminology question
I was inquiring about something on the Plum Quick forum and the response was whether I had a thin can motor or thick can motor. Just wasnt sure what he was refering to
