Another Darn Battery Question ?

Yep, I said it... Sorry everyone.

Here is the story, my family and I went camping this weekend and the cart rode great until I tried to load it back into the toy hauler. I have read on here that if your batteries are to low you need to charge up each individual 6v battery manualy with a standard 6v-12v car chager. Boy, am I glad I brought that with me.

So I did so. Charged each 6v battery for about 45 mintues each. Then I plugged in the charger and nothing. Each battery is ready 6.2-6.5 and I thought that would be enough to kick on the charger. I know the charger is good cause I tested it on my neigbhors cart in the camp ground and it turned on.

So I am confused.... Is the OBC bad? Also, not even sure were it is located on my 97cc ds. I looked at a 36v electrical layout and don't no if my cart has one.

Sorry for the rookie question everyone! lol Thanks for all the help everyone.

I have the exact same cart and the OBC is located behind the battery pack on the driver's side...its on the opposite side from the controller. Check your neg. battery cable connection and make sure there is zero corrosion and its tight. You can reset the OBC by disconnecting the main neg. cable from the battery pack and leaving it disconnected for ten minutes. What is your battery light on the dash doing? It should be blinking or doing something to warn you of a voltage issue.

Re: Another Darn Battery Question ?

There is not light on the dash nor anything to warn me. But I will try to reset the OBC when I get home after work and recheck all the connections.

Hecky50, I will get that info and post up. Thanks

Re: Another Darn Battery Question ?

Okay, well it is lunch time and I went home to mess with it for an hour or so.

All the terminals are tight and clean
Fuse is still good
Complete 6v pack reads 35.4v
Each better is between 5.7 to 5.9v

Here is the kicker, I plugged in the charger and nothing so I started moving some wires and said let's just put it in forward. Wow, the charger turned on..... so I left it alone. The charger is reading 17 DC Amps

So new question, whats Maki g it do that? Short in the f/r switch?

Re: Another Darn Battery Question ?

More likely an open in the f/r switch or it wasn't indexed into position.

Hold on a minute here, you have a 36v cart? You do not have an OBC. Only 48v CCs do

I was thinking something was not right, I stripped the cart down to the frame when I powder coated it and never seen a OBC. Lol. Live and learn I guess and it's a 36v. Rookie here.

I will have more time to look at it tomorrow, but when you press the f/r switch under the seat it will engage the charger. Like something is loose.

Funny...my cart...97 CC DS is a 48v series cart with an OBC. It does not have a run/tow switch.
