Scottyb question about a hi-low beam switch
 

Scotty, we've been communicating via email about a 12V reducer and I had a question about wiring a 32V light bar properly. You suggested a hi-low beam switch and said you could diagram it here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I started on this drawing ...... lemme see what I have. I also have a LED light bar witch works I think on like 9-30 volts. So I thought it would be cool to have a hi-lo beam switch. 12v would come from the voltage reducer, drawing evenly from the pack. The higher voltage would have to come straight from the pack or a second reducer in series....hmmm

Anybody that wants to add something positive here is more than welcome.

And this is the idea we spoke about RT :thumbup:
The key here is the light is LED with a low draw and the hi-beam use is seldom.
Otherwise the 24v draw could cause an imbalance in the pack.

Unfortunately none of those options will work with single output LED bars, specially the ones with a wide input voltage.

Those lights will have either an external driver or an internal "buck" converter to provide the correct voltage needed by the LED array regardless of input voltage variation.

If You were to wire your own LED array you could use a PWM driver to vary the intensity.

That idea would work with halogen type bulbs.

If i read this right there is no difference in the lamp's output on 12v or 32 volts? that could be good news for the OP.

There is definitely a difference in light output according to voltage. I originally had it wired across a pair (16V) and wasn't satisfied with the light output so I reread the voltage range and saw that it could handle 8-32V. I wired it across two pairs (32V) and the light output doubled. If I thought it could handle it I'd try wiring the light bar across the whole bank (48V) and then it would be an even draw across the bank. Thanks for the responses. I appreciate the info.

Do You by any chance have a make/model number for that LED bar?

It's an Auxbeam 12 inch combo beam light bar. Don't know the model number.
