99 club car won't turn off

I have a 99 club car regen II. I have recently installed an alltrax 400 amp dcx controller. When you first hook up the positive battery cable to power up the entire cart ignition switch turns the controller on and off like it should with the cart in neutral. As soon as you put the cart in gear the ignition switch won't power down the cotroller anymore until you disconnect the battery and then reconnect. Also, ignition seems to work fine if you disconnect the OBC. If you have any idea of what is going on it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Lennie Jordan

welcome, did this start as soon as you put controller in? if so its either the controller or go over all the work.............dosn,t take much to put a wire or cable in the wrong place..........................8)

Dont know for sure when it started but have gone over connections several times and I think I have it hooked up correctly. For the J3 I have hooked to white wire that looks like the one in the directions my only other option for a white wire in that area is one that goes to the forward reverse switch. As for the J2 it hooks to the blue wire on the contactor and then goes up front and ties into a blue wire going to the key switch. Thanks

Did you have this problem before changing controller by any chance?
I hope that you used proper regen-IQ battery disconnect and reconnect as you can possibly damage the NEW CONTROLLER by not connecting correctly?
Proper way is to turn key off, ( IQ carts requires turning run-tow to tow position ), remove pack ground cable and tape to keep from shorting, remove postive pack cable and tape as before, cover exposed batterys with a non conductive cover ( I use old fender cover )
Then reconnection is in reverse of above.
How did you unhooking OBC that allows switch key to disconnect controller? I have never seen one but its possible that the OBC is keeping the ground to solenoid winding close all the time? Test would be to disconnect solenoid minus side and see if that drops controller voltage? Then jumper to pack ground and see all works correctly?

Yes for both regen 1 and 2 without Run-Tow switch and IQ with Run-Tow switch and to be safe I use same for series CC ALL with solid state controllers as well.

Tried the disconnect and reconnect procedure did not seam to help.Would like to try the other test which wire is the minus and then do I put that wire to the pack ground or the solenoid.

To confirm minus wire on solenoid, look for the BLUE WIRE WITH WHITE STRIP ( should be single wire on that side of solenoid? ) as shown on 1999 wiring diagram is the the minus wire going to OBC. Remove wire from solenoid and jumper from solenoid to pack ground.
