battery poll what is a better battery trojan or interstate
over the years we have stayed true to Trojan batteries. we use a lot of batteries a year. Sams club is killing us on battery sales due to price. I know that the battery they buy from Sams is a not even close on quality to Trojan and I know this. But the Interstate guy has been making his pitch at us for some time now, and at around $130 difference per set of batteries he's got me thinking.........the salesman says the interstate battery will run neck and neck with the Trojan. (and of course I know he is a salesman doing his job :lhmo:)
So now I go to the mass public and wonder what others have experienced between both company's. I know there are some more dealers on this site as well and if you have any experience that would be helpful I really appreciate it! let the battle begin............ |

Next time he is in the shop ask for a set to try out and see if they will match a set of Trojans. If he really thinks they will go heads up then he shouldn't have a problem with letting you have a set to try out. In the long run he will make more money.

Re: battery poll what is a better battery trojan or interstate
I think its a question as what you are doing with them. Riding around the park and drinkin a couple a hours a day,Or making some work in off-roading.I have exides in my lifted clubcar and I sell Crown.I think they are all good, and I used ti sell Trojan but the price got to high.I wont sell Interstate because they leak so bad and they have moved their operations to Mexico. Its your decision.

Re: battery poll what is a better battery trojan or interstate
Look into the Crown GC batteries. Remember, CC dumped Trojan as an OEM and is mainly selling them with Crown and US Batteries. CC just recently named the Crown CEO as their supplier executive of the year. I know it doesn't mean much to us EV lovers, but they must be impressing the heck out of CC.

As long as the weights, thickness and numbers of plates are comparable ... it makes more difference how you use and care for the batteries than who's name is on them.

Re: battery poll what is a better battery trojan or interstate
You are half correct Scottyb. Plate grid characteristics are very defining for battery manufacturers, but so are a few others: seperator lengths and rib spacing, lug spacing, lug to strap connections, method of bonding lugs, strap thickness, cell compression, cell flags, intercell welds, and even chargers. There are a bunch of variations in manufacturing of the batteries that make a huge impact of its performance.
I agree that care and maintenace is the #1 thing an owner can do to prolong a battery's life. |
Re: battery poll what is a better battery trojan or interstate
Juiceman, how is it you know so much about battery construction? And how or where would we get the information you mentioned for a true comparison?

Re: battery poll what is a better battery trojan or interstate
