G9 wiring harness and igniter on a G2??
the harness on my 86 g2 is basically pieced together here and there. i have a 94 g9 for parts and would like to use the harness since it is complete. is it the same wiring?
also, thought i read somewhere a g9 igniter is better than a g2...any clue?? |
Re: G9 wiring harness and igniter on a G2??
The G2 igniter I think has a rev limiter built into it. I say switch it over. If you have a good igniter off of the G9 have at it.

Re: G9 wiring harness and igniter on a G2??
Do you have the G9 igniter or just the harness itself? If you don't have the igniter you could just change the igniter plugs on the harnesses.

i have the igniter and the harness. they dont appear to be the same, different to the key switch. think i might just use the g9 igniter and connector.

G9 has no rev limit, a couple of the wire colors are different I read. I think the wiring diagrams are posted here?

Re: G9 wiring harness and igniter on a G2??
Have the wiring diagrams in my manual, looks like I will have to eliminate the oil indicator and oil level switch. Gonna chop and see if she'll run...

Re: G9 wiring harness and igniter on a G2??
In an igniter, be it Yamaha G2-9, EZGO, Hyundai and Clubcar, (similar to 4-cycle EZGOs), there are only 5 basic wires you need. Two of them go to the pulsar. One is a ground wire. One is connected directly to a live wire (the solenoid is a source) and the last wire goes straight to one of the ignition coil terminals.
