Mods have slowed cart

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"]:FONT]Great site ! newbie here but have been reading the posts for a while. My CC Gas is an 07, with 18x9.50 tires and wheels, the governor is disconnected, tach, driven clutch spring, new plug, airfilter, and belts.

The problem is the cart is slower now, and Im wondering if the carb needs a bigger jet to give it more gas. On the asphalt road it pulls 3600 rpm, in maintanence mode it will rev to 4400rpm.

All in all it seems to be sluggish at best. It ran great before I dc'd the governor, and put the tork spring in. even with the 18x 950's it would pull hard rt to the governor cut off rpm.

Open to any idea's..........

Thanks,

Re: Mods have slowed cart

When you say new air filter, is it new air filter in stock air box or new aftermarket with airbox removed?
Personally, with your size tires, I would remove the torque spring.

Edit: And Welcome to BGW!!!

Try hooking the govener back up and see as I guess it wont make any difference.I think somebody on here will be able to help you better as I am a sparky guy.I do have a gas cart but its an 88 with no govener.

Re: Mods have slowed cart

Take the torque spring back out. A cart with stock size tires should not need a torque spring. The torque spring is for use in a lifted cart with oversize tires to help with the higher gear ratio.

Thanks for the replies! The cart has one size up over stock tires, but still on stock rims.

The new air filter is a stock replacement in the stock filter box!

Pull the torque spring back out of it and you should be alright.

A 18x950 tire is still only 18" Dia the 950 is just wider then a stock tire.

Re: Mods have slowed cart

The tires are at least 1-1 1/2'" taller tan stock

Ok, have you swapped the spring and tried it yet?
