Possible Allied Lithium Install Problem

Hey all, I installed 2 allied 48v lithium’s into my 2013 ydre last weekend. It seemed to act good at first, I charged them up all the way as soon as put them in. I drove it and it drove fine, I was very happy. I brought it back and put it on the charger. The directions said to charge it after every use. When I took it back out, it ran fine for about a mile then it started acting weird. It’s acting as if the batteries/power keep cutting on and off. I press the gas, nothing, I can here the solenoid click just like before the new batteries were put in. Then all of the sudden it’ll kick on full power for a second or two then cut out. It does this in reverse and forward. Any ideas on what this might be? I checked all the connections to the motor, solenoid, controller, batteries, all seem tight and clean. Everything is stock except the lithium batteries, which is why I only got two. It totals 60Ah. Thanks!

60ah probably isn't enough. My guess is that the batteries are cutting out due to overcurrent. Contact Allied and get them to trouble shoot it with you. I would go with 120AH minimum to insure that you have enough amp capacity - and you will also have plenty of range.

Re: Possible Allied Lithium Install Problem

I installed 60ah Allied batteries a few weeks ago. One thing I noticed is that when I drive with a full charge and go down hill the batteries shut off to protect themselves from overcharging. I'm not sure if you are on hilly terrain.
