1988 ezgo with issues

Hello all,

Trying to get this thing running right. The engine is running rough to say the least. I have a video of it but it's to large to upload. It runs just starts to break up and has no power. The first Photo has the Serial #. The person before me said they replaced the Carb, fuel lines, cleaned out the muffler, and air filter. I tried starter fluid straight into the carb and that didn't help any. You can see a pick of the Carb. Has one cable that's not connected to anything and one that is but isn't tight enough to do anything. Next photo is just the wiring setup. The last is just a pic of the air fliter, carb, & battery.

Looking for any manuals that I can print out too.

You might check your compression. Also use the 85 manual in here:

Welcome Diesel to BGW:thumbup: From the look of the pic first you would be mixing the fuel at 128:1 or 1 oz per gallon as it looks as though the oil injection has been removed. Mix it in a fuel jug first before putting it in the tank. Next the throttle cable the one with the throttle stop should have a spring behind it between the stop and the throttle arm. The spring should be loaded or compressed as to fully close the throttle when off the peddle. Start there and report back. Some has used a simple ball point pin spring to get by:thumbup:

Printed out the 85 manual.

I'm going to change the fuel out and remix as it's what every the guy before me made up. From the manual it looks like the compression spring goes on the second cable from the top. I'll adjust the first cable while I'm at it. I'm unsure where the third cable should go?

here is what I think....
because I bought the same cart and had the same problems.
Mine had a vaccume leak.. the cranks seals were bad and The lower head gasket was blown.

It take 3 simple things to make these 2 stroke motors to work.
Spark
Fuel
Compression.

If you have a vaccume leak the the air fuel mixture wont pull into the motor to spark and run.

The carb is a simple carb. no adjustments, so I am sure it not that unless there is clogg.

Good start MIX the fuel then the first cable with the stop on it is the throttle cable which should have the spring. The middle cable in the pic is the injection pump cable which is no longer needed when mixing the fuel the last cable is the choke cable which should be adjusted choke knob in and butter fly in the open position or horizontal in the carb.

OPPS and NEVER use starter fluid:thumbdown::thumbdown: A bit of fuel mix in a spray bottle as the engine needs lube or your heading down the road of destruction before you get started.
